Zenith Bank Plc, under the leadership of its group managing director and chief executive officer, Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji, OON, is set to launch its maiden Girl Child Empowerment Programme as part of its efforts to promote social impact and youth development.
The bank announced the initiative on its social media pages on Wednesday, saying it would create opportunities for girls to learn, grow and envision a future without limits.
The virtual event, themed ‘Banking on her tomorrow’, will bring together teenage girls aged 13 to 17 from 30 selected schools across Lagos for mentorship, inspiring conversations and interactive learning sessions on October 12, 2026.
Championed by Umeoji, the programme will expose participants to accomplished female leaders and role models through sessions covering education, self-confidence, financial literacy, career exploration and life skills.
The initiative adds to Zenith Bank’s existing social impact projects, including the Pad-A-Queen menstrual hygiene project and the Zenith Children’s Account (ZECA).
According to the programme’s host, Temi Badru, the initiative was inspired by Umeoji’s journey as the bank’s first female GMD and CEO. She stressed that every girl deserved the opportunity to find her voice and realise her potential.
“My special thanks to Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji, OON, @adaora.umeoji, for conceiving and championing this beautiful initiative, and for the kind invitation to host. As the first female GMD/CEO of Zenith Bank, her journey is an inspiration in itself.
“Every girl deserves the opportunity to find her voice and realise her potential. Through initiatives like this, Zenith Bank is creating opportunities for girls to learn, grow and envision a future without limits!” Badru wrote on Instagram.
