According to court records, Fatai, along with others still at large, committed the offence on June 26, 2025.
The prosecutor, Fola Osegbade, told the court that the convict and his accomplices stole gas cookers and other valuable items worth millions of naira, in addition to ₦250,000 cash from the shops.
The shops were identified as belonging to Mrs. Saidat Mohammed and Mrs. Olanrele Rasheedat.
Delivering judgment, Magistrate Giwa Babalola described the ruling as a deterrent to others who might engage in similar criminal acts and sentenced Fatai to two years imprisonment.
The magistrate also urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies to help curb the rising cases of burglary in the area.
