36-year-old woman arraigned for allegedly threatening to harm couple in Ondo

A 36-year-old woman, Blessing Abe, was on Monday arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, over allegations of threat to life, malicious damage of property and theft.

The defendant was docked on a three-count charge following a complaint lodged by a couple, Dr. Oladapo Omoseebi and his wife, Elizabeth.

The police prosecutor, Nelson Akintimehin, told the court that the alleged offences were committed on June 10, 2026, at Rabatel Housing Estate along the Benin-Owo Expressway in Akure.

Akintimehin alleged that Abe threatened the lives of the couple and specifically vowed to harm Dr. Omoseebi.

The prosecutor further informed the court that the defendant allegedly damaged floor tiles and curtain rails in an apartment occupied by the complainants, with the damaged property valued at N74,000.

She was also accused of unlawfully removing and stealing curtain rails worth N26,000 from the apartment.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offences contravene relevant provisions of the Criminal Code Laws of Ondo State. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

In Abe’s defense, her counsel, Anibisala, urged the court to grant his client bail, describing the prosecution as unjustified. In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Sunday Adedapo admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N350,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until July 6, 2026, for further hearing.
