President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the government and people of Plateau State on the passing of Lieutenant-General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who died at the age of 81.
In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends, military colleagues, and political associates of the late Useni.
He acknowledged Useni’s service as the former Governor of the old Bendel State, Minister of Transport, and Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army.
President Tinubu noted that Useni demonstrated courage and dedication throughout his military career, inspiring young officers to prioritize national interests over personal gain.
He also recognized Useni’s contributions to politics, particularly as the Deputy National Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and as a senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District.
The President prayed for God Almighty to grant Lieutenant-General Useni’s soul eternal rest and to provide comfort to his family.
