Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Ambassador Ahmed Olatunji Sulu-Gambari, on Tuesday presented his Letters of Credence to Malaysia’s King, Sultan Ibrahim, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation between both countries.
The credential presentation took place at the Singgahsana Kecil, Istana Negara (National Palace) in Kuala Lumpur, where Sulu-Gambari was formally accredited as Nigeria’s envoy to Malaysia.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ceremony was conducted with full diplomatic honours, including a General Salute mounted by the Royal Guard. The ambassadors and high commissioners-designate of Albania, Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of the Congo, Türkiye and Mauritius also presented their credentials.
During the audience, Sulu-Gambari conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Bola Tinubu to the Malaysian monarch.
The envoy also reaffirmed “Nigeria’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Malaysia,” while expressing appreciation for the opportunity to formally present his Letters of Credence.
The ministry said Sultan Ibrahim warmly recalled his longstanding interactions with Nigerians and underscored the enduring friendship between the peoples of both countries.
According to the statement, “His Majesty expressed his interest in undertaking a visit to Nigeria,” describing the move as a reflection of his goodwill and confidence in the growing bilateral relationship.
A notable moment during the audience was the King’s admiration for Sulu-Gambari’s traditional Nigerian attire, which both sides agreed provided an opportunity to promote cultural diplomacy and strengthen people-to-people exchanges.
