Adeleke declares Tuesday work-free day for PVC collection

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun Stste has declared Tuesday a work-free day for public servants in the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the directive applies to all categories of public servants, including local government workers and staff of tertiary institutions.
The Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, conveyed the approval in a circular circulated across the state, stating that the work-free day was approved to enable public servants perform their civic responsibility during the forthcoming governorship election and future elections in the state.
The circular, however, exempted personnel on essential duties, including medical and security workers, urging them to make the necessary arrangements among themselves to ensure that service delivery is not disrupted.
Adeleke urged public servants and other eligible voters to collect their voter cards as soon as possible, stressing the importance of next month’s election to the future of the state.
“I encourage all registered voters to visit the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, the ballot box,” the governor said.
