Flour trailer overturns, disrupts traffic in Akure

By Boye Oyeyemi
A fully loaded trailer carrying bags of flour overturned at Champion Junction along Oyemekun Road in Akure, Ondo State, causing severe traffic congestion along the vital route.
The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the heavy-duty vehicle while attempting to manoeuvre through a pedestrian demarcation, causing the lorry to topple onto its side.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were recorded despite the vehicle obstructing a significant section of the busy highway.
Promptly following the incident, the Ondo State Government deployed emergency response personnel alongside heavy-duty towing vehicles to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow.
The Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Transport, Muyiwa Ogunyemi, mobilised to the scene immediately after receiving a distress call to supervise the recovery operation personally.
To maintain order, traffic was redirected through alternative routes while emergency officials worked to lift and reposition the fallen trailer safely.
Ogunyemi emphasised that the swift intervention reflected the state government’s ongoing commitment to road safety and proactive traffic management across Akure.
Furthermore, he commended motorists and local residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the operation, reassuring the public that measures remain in place to safeguard lives and property.
