Man arrest for allegedly killing neighbour over financial disagreement in Osun

A man, Lekan Oyebamiji, has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly macheting his neighbour, Samson Gabriel, to death following a disagreement over money in Akinlalu community, Ife North Local Government Area of the state.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday after an argument broke out between the two neighbours.

A resident, Tayo Rasheed, who spoke to The PUNCH, said Oyebamiji attacked Gabriel with a machete, inflicting multiple injuries on his body.

He said the deceased sustained injuries to his wrist, head and other parts of his body during the attack.

Rasheed added that several residents living close to the two men had fled their homes for fear of being arrested by the police in connection with the incident.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the suspect had been arrested and that an investigation was ongoing.

“There was an argument over money between them. It was during the disagreement that Lekan Oyebamiji took his machete and attacked Samson Gabriel. The two men are neighbours,” Ojelabi said.

He added that the police would examine the deceased’s body and conduct an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
