FUOYE threatens legal action over cybercrime reports against VC

The management of Federal University Oye-Ekiti has threatened swift legal action against individuals and media platforms alleging that its Vice-Chancellor Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole is linked to cybercrime activities.

University officials confirmed that legal advisers have been instructed to review the publications to pursue civil and criminal remedies aimed at protecting the institution’s reputation.

In an official statement signed by Registrar Mufutau Ibrahim, the university dismissed the claims as entirely unsubstantiated and noted that no court of competent jurisdiction has convicted the vice-chancellor of any crime.

Management explicitly rejected accusations that the vice-chancellor had hacked electronic devices, intercepted private communications, manipulated data, or gained unauthorised access to computer systems.

The institution clarified that the ongoing controversy stems from a publicly circulating audio recording that is currently subject to an internal administrative review.

Officials insisted that neither the institution nor its management created the recording or unlawfully intercepted private communications, maintaining that the vice-chancellor acted strictly within his official capacity.

The university stated that there is no factual basis within its official records to portray the leadership as having engaged in any unlawful data alteration or device hacking.

Warning that unproven claims would no longer be tolerated, the university urged accusers to provide concrete evidence or face immediate legal proceedings while the institution continues its statutory duties.
