The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, saying the deceased was found dead in his office beside BOVAS Petrol Station, Igba, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
According to the police, members of the public reported the incident at about 3pm, prompting operatives from the Bolorunduro Division to visit the scene and commence preliminary investigations.
During the visit, the officers recovered two empty bottles suspected to have contained Sniper insecticide from a nearby bush.
The police also said preliminary findings indicated that Kayode had allegedly recorded a video before his death, which later circulated on social media. In the footage, he reportedly spoke about personal struggles and challenges he was facing.
Following the discovery, his remains were evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital mortuary for preservation and further examination. The command added that no visible marks of violence were observed on his body during the initial examination.
Jimoh said the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, had directed a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine the actual cause of death.
