The Lagos State Police Command has intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections with a five-day training programme aimed at strengthening officers’ professionalism, impartiality and capacity to manage election-related security challenges.
The development was announced in a statement issued on October 31, 2026, and signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
The training, organised by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) in collaboration with 3Streams Synergy, was held from October 26 to 30 and brought together officers from the Lagos Command, FCID Annex Lagos, Zone 2 Headquarters, Special Fraud Unit and Special Protection Unit.
The sessions focused on political neutrality, respect for human rights, crowd management, inter-agency cooperation and adherence to the rule of law, with emphasis on equipping officers to handle electoral security challenges professionally.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the NPTF for their support for personnel development and professional policing.
The Command said the training was part of efforts to strengthen its operational readiness before, during and after the elections.
It also assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining a peaceful environment for citizens to exercise their democratic rights.
