Arsenal edge Hull City as Odegaard maintains gunners’ winning run

By Tosin Omojola

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard scored the decisive goal as his side defeated Hull City to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners were frustrated for much of the encounter at the Emirates Stadium before Odegaard reacted quickest to slot home the rebound in the 72nd minute, after Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis had saved Noni Madueke’s initial effort.

Arsenal almost doubled their advantage late in the game when Madueke broke through on goal, but the winger was denied by Tzolakis. The rebound ricocheted off Hull defender Nobel Mendy before Brooke Norton-Cuffy cleared the ball off the line.

The victory marked Arsenal’s fifth consecutive league win since their 3-0 defeat to Brighton in September, which remains their only dropped points in the league this season.

Arsenal now hold a six-point lead at the summit, although the gap could be reduced when title rivals Manchester City take on Nottingham Forest later on Saturday.
