Abductors of Kwara monarch demand N150 million ransom

The bandits who abducted the Ojibara of Bayagan in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, from his farm on Saturday morning have demanded N150 million from the community for his release.

Findings on Sunday morning revealed that the abductors contacted the community in the early hours of the day to make their demand.

The bandits also compelled Oba Ojibara to speak with members of his community to confirm that he was in their custody.

The monarch, while lamenting his ordeal, appealed to the community to commence negotiations with the abductors to secure his immediate release.

He disclosed that the bandits transported him on a motorcycle through dense forest terrain for over five hours before arriving at the location from where they contacted the community.

As of the time of filing this report, negotiations had yet to begin, as the initial call was solely to announce the ransom and affirm that the monarch remained in captivity.

Oba Ojibara reportedly informed his community that several other individuals from a neighbouring settlement were also abducted as he was being taken away.

The monarch was kidnapped at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday by a group of armed bandits who invaded his farm wielding AK-47 rifles.
