Amotekun launches 24-hour patrols in Ondo, dismisses bandit infiltration reports

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has intensified security operations across the state with the deployment of round-the-clock patrols aimed at strengthening surveillance and preventing criminal activities.

The development follows circulating rumours alleging a bandit invasion in some parts of the state, claims which the security outfit has firmly dismissed as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Akure, the Public Relations Officer of the corps, Superintendent Jimoh Adeniken, said the Commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, had ordered continuous security operations across all 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

He explained that area commanders, local government coordinators and tactical teams have been directed to maintain uninterrupted surveillance, especially in vulnerable locations such as schools, worship centres, government facilities and other critical infrastructure.

According to him, the intensified patrols are part of proactive measures to ensure that criminal elements do not exploit any perceived security gaps within the state.

Adeniken also dismissed reports of bandit infiltration, stressing that there has been no verified incident of such an attack in any community across Ondo State.

He urged residents to disregard the rumours and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic, anxiety or disruption of normal activities in the state.

The corps assured the public of their safety, calling on citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, while encouraging them to go about their daily activities without fear.

Amotekun reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, adding that the enhanced patrol operations would be sustained as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.
