Amotekun parades 164 suspects in Ondo, recovers stolen items

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, on Friday paraded 164 suspects arrested during a statewide crackdown on crime.

The Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this in Akure, stating that the arrests followed a week-long operation targeting criminal hideouts. He revealed that the suspects were linked to various offences, including kidnapping, rape, human trafficking, breach of public peace, and violation of the anti-open grazing law.

Adeleye said, “We recorded three suspected kidnapping cases, 144 breaches of law and order, one rape case, 15 human trafficking incidents, and one violation of the anti-open grazing law.”

While addressing newsmen, he identified some notorious suspects including Henry and Tunde, arrested in Owo and parts of Akure over alleged armed robbery and kidnapping, while Husseini was linked to robbery and Godwin to alleged murder and rape.

“Others include Azeez, accused of arson and escape from custody, as well as Ademola, Imole, and Japhet, arrested for conspiracy, abduction, and assault on security personnel,” he added.

The commander also named Emmanuel and Ibrahim, arrested for possession of stolen motorcycles, alongside suspects linked to human trafficking and fraud in Akure.

“Recovered items include motorcycles, generators, steel, and iron materials,” Adeleye said, adding that another suspect specialised in burgling homes during church services.

He further revealed that 144 individuals were intercepted in a trailer and profiled, noting that they would be returned to their states of origin, while reaffirming the agency’s commitment to maintaining security across the state.
