Battle of Emirs: Sanusi takes over palace, Bayero in guest house

Tension has now enveloped Kano as the deposed Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has moved into the emir’s guest house (Gidan Nasarawa) in the historic town, while the reinstated deposed Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi gained control of the Emir palace.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the State Governor, has ordered all state government officials to move to the Emir’s palace.
Nonetheless, there were many security personnel in every corner of the state.
As of now, Malam Lamido, the Emir of Kano, has emerged, bringing traditional title holders to the courtyard of the Emir’s residence.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Husaini Gumel, and other security personnel were still at police headquarters, holding a meeting.
As of the time this report was filed, there was a great deal of tension in the state capital on which of the two Emirs should stand down following the Federal High Court’s current court order, which said that the status quo should be maintained.
