Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season after Brighton stunned them 3-0 at the Amex Stadium.
The Gunners, who had won their previous nine league games, struggled to cope with Brighton’s intensity from the start.
Pascal Gross put the hosts ahead in the 31st minute, firing from the edge of the box with his shot going in off the post.
Arsenal missed a chance to equalise before the break when Bukayo Saka failed to convert after Martin Odegaard’s deflected effort fell to him in the box.
Brighton punished the miss seconds later as Charalampos Kostoulas turned and fired past David Raya to double the lead.
Chema Andres made it 3-0 12 minutes after the restart, heading home from a Gross corner as Brighton completed a dominant display.
Kai Havertz missed Arsenal’s late chance to pull one back, shooting straight at goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.
The result left Arsenal second on goal difference, while Brighton climbed to third, two points behind the leaders.
