Buhari praises Tinubu at midterm, urges patience national unity

As President Bola Tinubu marks two years in office, former President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his congratulations while offering advice on leadership, reform, and national unity.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday, Buhari congratulated Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on reaching the midterm point of the administration. He reminded Nigerians that leadership is a continuous journey requiring resilience and collective effort.

“As the party and the government celebrate, the country should be reminded that leadership is a continuous journey,” Buhari stated.

The former president emphasized the importance of supporting the APC government, noting that while reforms are essential, their impact will be gradual and must be shielded from divisive politics.

“Necessary reforms and desired changes must not fall victim to nettlesome domestic politics,” he warned.

Buhari expressed confidence in the Tinubu administration’s ongoing efforts to combat poverty and inflation, particularly their impact on the most vulnerable citizens. However, he stressed that tackling these challenges should not be left to the government alone.

“The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and optimistic, urging a balanced approach to public expectations from the government.
