Build here, code here, vote here, Tinubu tells Nigerian youths

President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerian youths to remain in the country and actively contribute to national development, saying Nigeria’s future belongs to those who stay and help solve its challenges.

In his Democracy Day address on Friday, the President encouraged young people to commit to building their future within the country.

“To our young people: Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, code here, work here, and vote here. Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship,” Tinubu said.

The appeal comes amid continued emigration of young Nigerians seeking better opportunities abroad in sectors such as technology, healthcare and academia.

Tinubu stressed that his administration’s reforms are aimed at ensuring that democracy delivers tangible economic benefits, particularly for the youth.

He cited initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, the National Agricultural Development Fund’s planned deployment of 10,000 tractors over five years, and the certification of over 1,000 small and medium enterprises for export as part of efforts to expand opportunities.

The President added that each generation has a defining responsibility, noting that while past generations secured independence and democracy, the current generation must secure prosperity.
