Toyin Abraham threatens legal action over defamatory posts, demands removal of publications

By Damilola Akinwale –

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham, has issued a formal cease-and-desist notice warning bloggers, social media users and content creators against publishing or circulating alleged false, misleading and defamatory statements about her.

The actress shared a screenshot of the notice, dated November 5, 2026, on her official Instagram page on Thursday, with the caption, “To whom it may concern, take notice”.

The notice, issued through her legal representatives, Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, and signed by Tope Salami, demanded an immediate halt to the creation, publication, reposting or circulation of unverified or malicious claims about her across digital platforms. It also warned that such posts could be preserved as evidence for possible legal action.

The solicitors urged the public to be wary of alleged false and malicious publications targeting the actress, reportedly by some “known persons” using sponsored individuals. They also advised people to verify information about Abraham before publishing it.

The notice further demanded the immediate removal of existing publications, posts, videos, comments and other online content containing false or defamatory statements about the actress.

Abraham’s lawyers also warned against using social media or any other platform to encourage harassment, cyberbullying, intimidation or attacks on her reputation and business.

The notice comes amid renewed conversations about Abraham’s relationship with fellow filmmaker Funke Akindele, following announcements of separate promotional activities for their upcoming films, The Four: No One Fights Alone and Bestie. However, neither actress indicated that her activities were directed at the other.

The legal notice also follows fresh rumours about Abraham’s marriage, a leaked audio controversy, public backlash over her political ambition and renewed rivalry involving her colleagues in the film industry.
