Ned Nwoko threatens legal action over false reports about Regina Daniels

By Anthonia Okonkwo –

Nigerian senator Ned Nwoko has threatened legal action against social media users spreading false reports about actress Regina Daniels, particularly fake death announcements and misleading claims about her health and personal life.

In a statement shared on his verified Instagram account on Monday, Nwoko appealed to Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and other social media users to give her space to focus on her recovery.

He said the actress had been through a difficult period and needed love and support rather than public judgment or further pressure.

“I make this appeal not just for her sake, but also for the sake of the kids, who are very well cared for and deserve to see their mother supported, loved and given every opportunity to get better,” he wrote.

Nwoko also referred to a video Regina shared on her birthday, saying it offered a glimpse into some of the health challenges she had been facing. He said the false reports circulating online had added to her distress.

“Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery; rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying,” he stated.

The senator said the publications were being documented and warned that those responsible for deliberately spreading false information would face legal consequences.

“We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels. There is a limit to what should be tolerated, and that limit has been reached,” he added.
