An Ikirun-born philanthropist and politician, Dr Ibrahim Luqman, has promised to sponsor the education of late gospel singer Toluwanisings’ children from their current levels through university, amid an ongoing family dispute and calls for support.

The senatorial candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for Osun Central Senatorial District made the pledge during a recent condolence visit to the singer’s father, Muniru Olayemi, in Ikirun, Osun State.

Videos from the meeting showed Luqman leading a delegation to Olayemi’s residence, where he also promised to provide new accommodation for the late gospel singer’s father.

The intervention comes at a difficult time for the family as they mourn the singer and make arrangements for the welfare of his widow, Akanbi Elizabeth, and their children. Following his death, the family launched a support fund titled A Call for Love & Support to help the widow and children navigate life without their father.

Meanwhile, disagreements within the family have stalled plans for Toluwanisings’ burial, with calls for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Following the singer’s death, a video surfaced online showing his father speaking about his background and describing him as the family’s breadwinner, whose death had deeply affected them.

However, subsequent interviews revealed disagreements over the burial arrangements, particularly the family’s opposition to the cemetery burial reportedly suggested by his widow, Elizabeth.

The family has insisted that the singer be buried at his residence in Ibadan or at his family house in Ikirun, a position that has stalled burial arrangements.
