Oluremi Tinubu extends food relief to Ogun, names Akwa Ibom next beneficiary

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended the Renewed Hope Initiative’s food relief programme to persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable groups in Ogun State, with Akwa Ibom named as the next beneficiary.

Ogun is the 32nd state to benefit from the programme, which provides food assistance to vulnerable Nigerians to cushion the effects of economic hardship and support household welfare.

The food items were presented in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday by the wife of the Vice-President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, on behalf of Oluremi Tinubu.

Under the scheme, two truckloads of assorted food items are supplied monthly for distribution by wives of state governors, who serve as state coordinators of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

The programme, which began in 2024, is supported by an anonymous donor and the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa).

Speaking during the presentation, Shettima said the intervention reflected the RHI’s commitment to providing nutritional support to vulnerable Nigerians in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a message delivered through her representative, Oluremi Tinubu identified ASR Africa as the supplier of the food items presented to Ogun State.

She commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his hospitality and praised the state’s First Lady, Bamidele Abiodun, for her commitment to implementing the initiative’s programmes and facilitating support for vulnerable residents.

“On this note, to the glory of God and for the benefit of humanity, I hereby hand over these food items to the First Lady of Ogun State for onward distribution to the beneficiaries,” she said.
