Sanwo-Olu woos CMA CGM for increased investment in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed the state government’s readiness to support increased investment by CMA CGM Nigeria Shipping Limited, a major player in the maritime and shipping sector.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed this after receiving a delegation from the company, led by its Group Executive Vice President for Finance, Mr. Ramon Fernandez, and Regional Director for Africa, Ms. Adeline Gabillaud, at Lagos House, Marina.

The governor said CMA CGM already played an important role in the operations of Lekki Deep Sea Port, adding that the company’s interest in expanding its investments in Lagos was a welcome development.

He also noted that the visit was Fernandez’s first to Lagos, expressing pleasure at the opportunity to share the state’s growth story and highlight its investment opportunities.

According to Sanwo-Olu, Lagos remains open to investors, with the government working to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks and improve the ease of doing business across the state.

He said the administration was committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, stressing that investors would continue to receive support to achieve their objectives in Lagos.

The governor also urged the company to prioritise the recruitment and training of local talent as maritime and shipping activities expand in the state. He said such efforts would help build local capacity and ensure that host communities benefit from the sector’s growth.

Sanwo-Olu added that the government would continue to collaborate with credible investors to translate investment opportunities into jobs, economic growth and lasting value for residents.
