Joke Silva, Richard Mofe-Damijo to feature in CANEX 2026 stage production
By Damilola Akinwale –
Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has been cast to appear on stage alongside actor Richard Mofe-Damijo in the stage play, A Husband’s Wife, ahead of the Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND 2026), scheduled to hold from November 5 to 8 at the National Theatre.
The development was announced by Lufodo Media on Thursday via its Instagram page. The company disclosed that the play, written by Tyrone Terrance and directed by Bunmi Adewale, would be staged on November 7 during the event, described as Africa’s largest gathering of creative and cultural industries.
The performance marks an emotional new chapter for Silva following the death of her husband, veteran actor Olu Jacobs.
CANEX WKND 2026 is hosted by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in partnership with Nigeria, the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat. It will bring together creatives, investors, policymakers and other industry stakeholders to connect talent with finance, markets, partnerships and commercial opportunities.
The four-day event will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, National Theatre Complex, Iganmu, Lagos, and attract participants from across Africa and the wider diaspora.
Themed “One People, United in Culture, Creating for the World: From FESTAC ’77 to CANEX ’27,” CANEX WKND 2026 is projected to support the development, commercialisation and expansion of Africa’s creative and cultural industries, building on the legacy of previous editions.
The programme will feature activities across film, music, fashion, literature, visual arts, gastronomy and sports, combining business and investment discussions with showcases, exhibitions, masterclasses and networking opportunities.
Key programme components will include the CANEX Finance Summit and Deal Room, CANEX Shorts Film Competition, Jollof Wars Competition, CANEX Music Factory Songwriting Camp, Junior Chefs Competition, Fashion Show and Awards Night, CANEX Mega Concert and Legends Football Match.
