Herbert Wigwe’s daughter holds private traditional wedding in Ikoyi

Tochi Wigwe, the eldest surviving daughter of late former Access Bank Group Managing Director, Herbert Wigwe, has held her traditional wedding ceremony with her partner, Wilson Aikhomu, in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The private ceremony, attended by family members and close friends, featured traditional marriage rites, including the payment of the bride price, signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to her husband’s family.
Videos and photographs from the ceremony emerged on social media on Thursday, attracting congratulatory messages from friends and well-wishers.
Tochi, who studied at New York University and obtained a master’s degree from Imperial College London, previously worked as an analyst at Access Bank and interned at Coronation Merchant Bank. She currently serves as a director at the HOW Foundation, established in memory of her father.
Her husband, Aikhomu, is a Lagos-based investment professional and the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty. He studied Finance at California State University, Northridge, and obtained a qualification in Investments and Risk Finance from the University of Westminster.
He previously worked with Leadway and RMB Stockbroking. Aikhomu is also the son of late Rear Admiral Joseph Aikhomu and nephew of former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.
The wedding comes more than two years after Tochi lost her parents and elder brother in a helicopter crash in the United States on February 9, 2024. Her father, Herbert, his wife, Chizoba, and their son, Chizi, died in the crash near Nipton, California, while travelling from Palm Springs to Boulder City, Nevada.
The crash also claimed the lives of former Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two crew members. Herbert Wigwe, who was 57, was a prominent banking executive and former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, where he played a major role in the growth and expansion of Access Bank.
