Customs collects N4.30tn in six months, targets N11.07tn for 2026

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generated N4.30 trillion in revenue between January and June 2026, putting the service at 36.4 per cent of its N11.074 trillion target for the year.
The figure was disclosed at the 65th Regular Meeting of the Nigeria Customs Service Board, held on September 2 and chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele.
The board attributed the revenue performance to increased deployment of technology, strengthened enforcement and improved engagement with businesses operating within the trading sector.
Among the measures credited with supporting revenue collection is the full deployment of the Unified Customs Management System, known as B’Odogwu.
The service has also expanded post-clearance and real-time audits, while implementing the Authorised Economic Operator and advance ruling programmes.
Other measures include the use of geospatial technology, joint border patrols and closer engagement with the trading community.
The board said the initiatives were part of efforts to improve efficiency, accountability and revenue mobilisation as the service works towards achieving its N11.074 trillion target for 2026.
At the meeting, the board also approved the Nigeria Customs Service De-Minimis Regulation 2025 to align the regime with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
