Dickson hosts Peter Obi, calls for end to name-calling in NDC

Former Bayelsa State Governor and chieftain of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has urged members of the party to put an end to internal disagreements and focus on the collective goal of winning future elections and offering an alternative vision for Nigeria.

Dickson made the appeal on Friday after hosting the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other senior leaders of the NDC at a closed-door meeting that lasted about three hours.

According to the former governor, the meeting provided an opportunity for party leaders to review the activities of the NDC and address recent issues that had generated concerns among members.

He disclosed that all matters discussed were amicably resolved, noting that the party leadership remains united on its broader objective of securing electoral victories and addressing what it described as the misgovernance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dickson acknowledged that certain issues had emerged within the party in recent weeks but said leaders had agreed on measures to manage them going forward and prevent further divisions.

He called on party members nationwide to refrain from bickering, name-calling and actions capable of undermining party cohesion, stressing the need to remain focused on the larger mission ahead. “I want to use this opportunity again to call on all members of our party to stop the bickering and name-calling and focus on the bigger picture,” he said.

The former governor also assured members that he, Peter Obi and other stakeholders would continue consultations and engagements aimed at resolving concerns, strengthening internal unity and deepening collaboration across the party.

He reiterated the commitment of the NDC leadership to building a stronger political platform capable of offering Nigerians a credible alternative and wished citizens a happy Democracy Day celebration.
