Family announces Aug 9 Fidau prayer for Oloye Lekan Alabi

The family of the late Oloye Olalekan Alabi has announced that his eight-day Fidau prayer will hold on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Ibadan.
According to a funeral announcement issued by the family, the prayer session will begin at noon at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
The family said a reception would be held immediately after the Fidau prayer at the same venue.
It added that the event would bring together family members, friends, associates, traditional rulers, government officials and other well-wishers to pray for the repose of the late journalist, author and Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The announcement described the gathering as a celebration of the life and enduring legacy of Alabi, who died at the age of 75.
Alabi was widely regarded as one of Ibadan’s foremost cultural ambassadors for his contributions to journalism, public relations and the preservation of Yoruba history and cultural heritage.
As the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, he played a prominent role in promoting the traditions and history of the ancient city while earning respect across professional, cultural and traditional circles.
The Fidau prayer is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country to honour his memory and celebrate his contributions to public service, culture and community development.
