FCT police intensify security operations to combat crime

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the deployment of additional personnel and equipment to bolster patrols, conduct stop-and-search operations, and enhance surveillance across Abuja.

This proactive measure is aimed at addressing the rising cases of ‘one chance’ robberies and vehicle theft within the city.

In a statement, the Command emphasized its determination to crack down on vehicles operating without proper registration. Cars without number plates, those with only one plate, or those using defaced plates will be impounded.

It added that the enforcement of regulations on covered number plates and tinted glass will be intensified.

The police acknowledged the potential inconvenience these operations might cause but reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of FCT residents. “These measures are necessary to deter criminal activities targeting motorists and passengers,” the statement read.

Since initiating these security steps, the Command has reportedly recovered several stolen vehicles and apprehended suspects involved in ‘one chance’ crimes. The police urged the public to comply with the regulations and support their efforts.

The police further encouraged residents to report suspicious activities and cooperate with officers during these operations. For emergencies or inquiries, the FCT Police Command can be reached at 08032003913 or 08028940883.

“Complaints regarding police misconduct can be directed to the Public Complaint Bureau at 09022222352 or the Complaint Response Unit at 08107314192,” the statement read.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its dedication to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents of Abuja, urging continued patience and vigilance from the public.
