Four dead, two injured in Kwara cult clash

Four persons have been confirmed dead following a violent shooting incident involving suspected members of a secret cult group at the Post Office area of Ilorin metropolis, Kwara State, on Sunday night.
The attack, which occurred at about 9:00 p.m., also left two others injured, according to the Kwara State Police Command.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the command said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
It was gathered that about five armed hoodlums stormed a bamboo shanty bar around the Railway area and opened fire on people gathered there before fleeing the scene.
Police operatives reportedly responded to a distress call and rushed the victims to the Police Clinic, where four were confirmed dead while two others are currently receiving treatment.
The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations indicated that the attack was cult-related, adding that the arrested suspects are assisting investigators with useful information.
The command further stated that tactical, intelligence, and covert operations have been deployed to track down other members of the suspected cult group involved in the attack.
The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, condemned the incident, describing it as a senseless act of violence and assuring residents that those responsible would be brought to justice.
