Gateway Games: Authorities investigating fire at Alake Sports Complex

A fire broke out on Wednesday at the Alake Sports Complex in Abeokuta, the venue hosting indoor events for the ongoing National Sports Festival.

The blaze reportedly originated from a truck delivering diesel to a generator that powers the complex.

Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, as the driver quickly moved the truck away from the main venue, helping to minimize damage.

Personnel from the Ogun State Fire Service eventually extinguished the fire, though their response was delayed by about 45 minutes.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, the festival continues, with enhanced safety measures now in place across all venues.
