General Hospital Ijede expands emergency services with new 11-bed facility

General Hospital Ijede has marked a major milestone with the commissioning of a newly constructed 11-bed Accident and Emergency (A&E) unit aimed at improving emergency health care services within the Ikorodu division and Lagos State at large.
Speaking at the event, the hospital’s Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Olufemi Aletan, expressed deep appreciation to the Lagos State Government for its continued investment in health infrastructure across the state.
He described the new A&E unit as a vital, life-saving facility designed to offer prompt, professional, and compassionate care in line with international standards, beyond being just a physical structure.

Dr. Aletan also commended the collaborative efforts of the hospital management team, clinical and non-clinical staff, and supporting partners who contributed to the successful delivery of the project.
In his goodwill message, the immediate past Permanent Secretary of the Health Service Commission (HSC), Dr. Benjamin Eniayewun, praised the hospital leadership for their strategic vision in creating a space that meets the community’s emergency needs.

He said the unit represents a testament to the hospital’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the delivery of health care services to the people.
The commissioning ceremony drew several dignitaries including representatives of HRM Oba Abdul Hakeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, medical directors of sister secondary facilities, and former MDs of the hospital.
Also present were the Permanent Secretary of Health District I, Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Bankole, community leaders, and other stakeholders who lauded the development as a transformative step in the region’s health care system.
