Gov Eno unveils summits, empowerment plans for 2025

As part of efforts to advance the ARISE Agenda, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced plans to host three significant summits in 2025, focusing on power, tourism, and corporate business development.

Speaking during the Inter-Denominational New Year Thanksgiving and Covenant Service at the International Worship Centre in Uyo on January 2, Governor Eno outlined the objectives of these summits, emphasizing collaboration with stakeholders to drive growth and progress in the state.

The Power Summit aims to explore strategies for achieving constant electricity supply, which the Governor identified as a crucial driver of development.

The Tourism Summit will focus on developing a comprehensive master plan to maximize the state’s tourism potential, building on its status as a leading tourism destination in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Corporate Business Summit will bring together Akwa Ibom indigenes excelling in various corporate sectors globally to share expertise, mentor young entrepreneurs, and foster development partnerships.

Governor Eno, a successful entrepreneur himself, highlighted the importance of engaging the state’s corporate elite to harness their knowledge and experiences. He described the summits as critical to positioning Akwa Ibom for its “next level of development.”

The Governor also reaffirmed plans to begin town hall meetings across federal constituencies in February. He urged stakeholders to present unified development priorities to guide government planning.

As part of the meetings, the government will empower 62 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), selecting two entrepreneurs from each local government area. Beneficiaries will receive ₦5 million each alongside other support packages, aimed at boosting grassroots economic development.

Rededicating the state to God, Governor Eno expressed confidence that the administration’s plans for 2025 would be accomplished through divine grace. He extended his gratitude to citizens for their support and wished all Akwa Ibom people a prosperous new year.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Bishop Chris Nyong, commended the Governor for sustaining the New Year Thanksgiving Service and for initiatives such as the ARISE Elderly Initiative, ARISE Shelter, 13th Month Salary scheme, youth empowerment programs, and health insurance. He prayed for continued blessings on the state’s leadership.

The service featured inspiring messages, including a sermon by Rev. Dr. Godwin Amaowo, who spoke on the theme, “Multiplied Grace,” emphasizing humility and faith as keys to receiving divine favor.

The event also included choir performances, scripture readings, and widespread attendance by citizens and friends of the state.
