Prominent Ibadan politician and socialite, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, has filed a lawsuit against Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal 1 (KWAM 1) for failing to perform at his daughter’s lavish wedding ceremony.

Adeojo is seeking a refund of N8 million, the fee paid for KWAM 1’s performance, and an additional N50 million in damages for the musician’s absence at the event.

The legal demand is being handled by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN, OFR, through BA Law Firm.

In the lawsuit, Adeojo’s lawyers have issued a demand for KWAM 1 to pay the total sum of N58 million within 14 days of receiving the letter. Failure to comply will result in legal action to enforce the claim.

According to the letter, Chief Adeojo had arranged for KWAM 1 to perform at the wedding of his daughter, Miss Mariam Oyinade Adeojo, on June 29, 2024, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The agreed sum of N8 million was reportedly paid into Wasiu Ayinde’s account on January 9, 2024. However, KWAM 1 did not appear, despite extensive preparations and the presence of high-profile guests, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

“To worsen the situation, our client further states that the payment for your performance at his daughter’s wedding scheduled for 29 June 2024 at Jogor Event Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State was made since the 9th day of January, 2024, a period of over five months to the date of the event, yet, you failed to show up for your performance and deliberately breached the contract between you and our client,” the letter reads.

Due to this breach, Chief Adeojo demands an immediate refund of the N8 million, N50 million in damages, 10 percent interest on the N8 million since January 9, 2024, and a formal apology from the musician.
