Ibom Hotels to close temporarily for renovation, repositioning

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the temporary closure of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort from August 22, 2026, to allow for comprehensive renovation and strategic repositioning of the facility.
In a public announcement signed by the commissioners for information, Aniekan Umanah, and culture and tourism, Anieti Udofia, the government said management of Ibom Hospitality Limited would be handed over to ALEPH Hospitality, an international hospitality management company, effective August 22.
The government disclosed that the move was aimed at improving the hotel’s efficiency, sustainability, competitiveness and long-term profitability after more than 18 years of operation without a major transformation.
According to the government, the partnership with ALEPH Hospitality is expected to introduce global best practices, professional expertise, improved service standards and greater operational and commercial efficiency.
The government said the hotel’s management would assist guests and intending visitors in making alternative reservations at other Ibom hospitality facilities during the temporary closure.
It also assured workers of the facility that the transition would not result in mass layoffs. Employees would be given opportunities to remain within the state’s hospitality ecosystem, including possible deployment to the Arise Palm Resort when it opens and other facilities under the new management structure.
The government said the Human Resources team and ALEPH Hospitality would engage employees on available roles, deployment, training, onboarding and other arrangements. A team of workers would also remain at the hotel during the renovation to support rehabilitation works, safeguard the property and ensure proper maintenance.
The government added that the golf course would remain open to players and visitors during the renovation, noting that it had been maintained and was in good condition. It thanked the staff for their contributions to the hotel’s growth and said the repositioning was part of efforts to build a world-class hospitality sector.
