Popular Yoruba filmmaker and actor Ibrahim Yekini has admitted to making mistakes early in his career, which led to losses as a filmmaker.

Yekini revealed that his inexperience in filmmaking and marketing, along with a lack of proper contracts and ownership agreements, contributed to his setbacks.

“At that time, it wasn’t about the money for me; I just wanted people to see what I was capable of, so I didn’t pay attention to certain details,” he said.

“I don’t own the master copies of any of the films I produced in the past because I was too hesitant to ask marketers to sign contracts stating that the rights would revert to me after six months. I feared they might reject my film, even though I financed it myself.”

The Kesari star also admitted that he has lost count of the movies he has produced over the course of his career, stating that he has made so many that he is “ashamed to mention the number.”
