ICPC to arraign El-Rufai for alleged fraud, abuse of office
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it will be arraigning the former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, before two separate courts.
In a statement issued on Monday, by the Commission’s Head of Media and Public Communications, John Odey, the ICPC said El-Rufai would be arraigned alongside Joel Adoga at the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on March 24, for money laundering, conversion and possession of public property, abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
“The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i (M) and one Joel Adoga (M) at the Federal High Court of Nigeria in the Kaduna Judicial Division on Tuesday, the 24th March 2026.
“The suit with number FHC/KD/73/2026 has charges ranging from conversion of and possession of public property to money laundering,” the ICPC said.
The commission said the former governor would also be arraigned before the Kaduna State High Court on charges involving abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage, among others.
“Similarly, another charge, number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, against Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i and one Amadu Sule (LEDA), has also been filed before a Kaduna State High Court in the Kaduna Judicial Division. The charges in the State High Court case range from abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud to conferring undue advantage, among others,” the ICPC said.
According to the statement, ICPC filed both suits on March 18, 2026, and that the former governor had been duly served with the suits.
El-Rufai’s arraignment follows months of investigations and detention by the ICPC, and EFCC since February 18.
