Igali charges Bayelsa athletes as they depart for Gateway 2024

The Commissioner for Sports Development in Bayelsa State, Honourable Daniel Igali, has charged the state’s contingent to the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State to strive for success.
The delegation, led by the Director of Sports at the Bayelsa State Sports Council, Sir Braveman Wodi, departed Yenagoa on Friday.
In his farewell address, Honourable Igali expressed confidence in the team’s potential and assured them of the state’s full support.
He noted that although some athletes may be representing the state for the first time, the tournament presents an opportunity to make themselves and the state proud.
Igali urged the athletes to build on Bayelsa’s impressive performances in past festivals and aim to emerge as the best-performing state in the country.
“Let me remind you that you’re carrying the hopes and aspirations of Bayelsa. The governor of our dear state is optimistic about a successful outing and is committed to supporting your excellence without any hindrance,” he said.
The commissioner wished the team a safe journey to Ogun State and encouraged them to remain worthy ambassadors, noting that Bayelsa has become a household name in the Nigerian sports scene.
Bayelsa finished second at the last edition of the National Sports Festival, held in Asaba, Delta State, in 2022.
