Information minister bags Image Maker Award 2026, reaffirms commitment to transparency

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed his commitment to transparency following his conferment with the Image Maker Award 2026, describing the honour as a reflection of efforts to build trust and strengthen communication around government reforms.
Idris received the award from Vanguard Media Limited, publishers of Vanguard newspaper, at a ceremony held in Lagos on Friday at Eko Hotel & Suites.

Speaking at the event, the minister said the recognition comes at a crucial time for the country, as the government pursues reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth.
“This award is a testament to the trust we strive to build with every Nigerian. Communication is at the heart of governance, and it must foster confidence, unity, and hope,” he said.
Idris stressed the importance of transparency and continuous engagement with the public and the media, noting that open communication has helped bridge the gap between governance and public perception. He also highlighted the role of timely and accurate information in national security, adding that the ministry is working closely with security agencies and media organisations to maintain public confidence.
The minister commended the media, his colleagues in government, and staff of the ministry for their contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s communication framework, while also praising Vanguard for promoting excellence and recognising public service.
He reaffirmed his commitment to upholding high standards of public communication anchored on truth, transparency and accountability, describing the award as a call to do more in service of Nigerians.
