Investigation reveals some Kaiama kidnap victims enlisted by bandits

Investigation has revealed that some of the children among the 176 people abducted from Woro and Nukku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State on February 3, 2026, have been enlisted by their abductors.
Speaking on the BBC Hausa Service, monitored in Ilorin, the lawmaker representing Gwanabe/Gweria/Bani/Adena constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saidu Baba-Ahmed, said the number of rescued victims was fewer than the 176 people abducted.
According to him, about 25 victims remain missing, while some others were reportedly killed and buried by their abductors.
Baba-Ahmed added that some of the remaining victims, particularly those aged 13 and above, had been enlisted into the bandits’ ranks, citing accounts provided by victims who had returned home.
He said the rescued victims had arrived safely in Ilorin, the state capital, where they were receiving medical attention.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker said the state government was taking care of the victims and assessing their health before they are reunited with their families.
He commended the state and federal governments for their efforts toward securing the release and safe return of the abducted residents.
However, Baba-Ahmed’s disclosure raises fresh concerns over the fate of the remaining victims and underscores the need for continued efforts to locate those still missing and secure their safe return.
