JUST IN: Tinubu signs amended 2025 budget, extends implementation by three months
President Bola Tinubu has signed into law an amendment extending the implementation of the 2025 Appropriation Act from September 30 to December 31, 2026.
The amendment, known as the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, was passed by the Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, before the President assented to it on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the extension would allow Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to complete ongoing capital projects.
It would also enable the government to fully utilise funds already appropriated for critical programmes without disrupting their implementation.
Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for the speedy passage of the amendment, describing it as another indication of cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in the interest of the country.
