JUST IN: Trump delays planned strike on Iran power plants, after ‘productive talks’

The United States U.S. President Donald Trump says the United States would temporarily halt planned military strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure following what he described as positive diplomatic engagements with Iran.
In a post on his Truth Social network on Monday, Trump wrote: “the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.”
He added that, based on the discussions, he had instructed the U.S. military to postpone any strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for five days while talks continue.
The announcement follows recent tensions in which Trump had warned that the U.S. could target Iran’s energy facilities if Tehran failed to meet U.S. demands, including keeping the strategic Strait of Hormuz open to international shipping.
The ultimatum was part of a broader escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two countries, which began in late February 2026 amid military operations involving the U.S. and its allies.
Iran had also warned it would retaliate against U.S. interests and regional infrastructure if its power grid was attacked, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
