LASISMA seeks Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA support on informal space management

…moves to curb illegal encroachment

The Lagos State Informal Space Management Authority (LASISMA) has visited the Executive Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Bola Oladunjoye, to strengthen collaboration on managing informal and incidental open spaces and curbing illegal encroachment.

Leading the delegation, LASISMA General Manager, TPL Daisi Oso, outlined the authority’s mandate and sought the council’s support in stakeholder sensitisation, data gathering, enforcement and compliance with physical planning regulations.

Oso stressed the need to protect setbacks, walkways, rights-of-way and other public spaces from encroachment, unauthorised activities and criminal use. She also highlighted opportunities for revenue optimisation through proper space management.

Responding, Oladunjoye welcomed the delegation and commended LASISMA’s initiative. He expressed the council’s readiness to collaborate on managing car parks, playgrounds, garages and other public spaces, assuring LASISMA of support when enforcement is required.

Both institutions agreed that stronger cooperation would improve compliance with planning regulations, promote peaceful coexistence and support sustainable development in Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA.

The visit ended with the presentation of a gift by Oso to the Executive Chairman. Representatives of both organisations attended the engagement.
