Makinde inaugurates Bodija Market road, facilities, commends LG for projects

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday said local government councils in the state were functional and delivering projects that directly improved the lives of residents.
Makinde spoke while inaugurating a 2-kilometre road, a fire service station, shops and an ultra-modern car park at Bodija International Market in Ibadan, all executed by the Ibadan North Local Government.
He said the projects demonstrated his administration’s commitment to strengthening local government administration and promoting grassroots development, adding that the new infrastructure would boost commercial activities and improve the ease of doing business.
The governor also commended the Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Seun Olufade, for executing the projects, describing them as evidence that councils were effectively delivering development to their communities.
Makinde went further to name the newly completed car park after the renowned Ibadan warlord, Balogun Oderinlo, while urging traders to continue supporting his administration’s vision for sustainable development.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Bodija Market and the Otun Iyaloja of the market, Alhaja Oyebamiji, thanked the governor for approving and supporting the projects, saying the facilities would improve safety, comfort and convenience for traders and customers.
Similarly, the Babaloja of Bodija Market, Alhaji Ismael Jimoh, expressed appreciation to the governor for providing infrastructure to enhance business activities and commended the administration for creating an enabling environment for traders.
The inauguration was attended by Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, members of the national and state assemblies, Secretary to the State Government Musibau Babatunde, Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi, Head of Service Adenike Fasina, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders and market executives, among other dignitaries.
