Mararaba-Nyanya flyover to be completed by December 2026 — Nasarawa govt
The Nasarawa State Government has said the ongoing 2.6-kilometre Mararaba-Nyanya flyover and adjoining road project will be completed by December 2026.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Team, Tunde Rahman, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, following an inspection tour of major infrastructure projects in Benue and Nasarawa states by the team.
The inspection tour was led by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and was aimed at showcasing the impact of ongoing economic reforms and improved fiscal capacity on infrastructure development at the sub-national level.
The Managing Director of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board, Wada Yahaya, said the Mararaba-Nyanya project was designed to ease persistent traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr Yahaya said the project comprises two flyover bridges and a 2.6-kilometre elevated road, as well as five pedestrian bridges to enable residents cross the road without having to travel to the roundabout.
“There were several attempts to solve this traffic problem in Mararaba, but at the end of the day, His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule came up with the final solution and that is to provide a continuous flyover of 2.6km long,” Mr Yahaya said.
He said the construction alone would cost the state nearly N40 billion, while compensation was estimated at over N1.1 billion and road furniture, including road markings, signage and streetlights, would cost more than N1 billion.
“In all we will spend between N43 and N44 billion on the project,” he said, adding that the completed project was expected to reduce travel time between Abuja and Keffi from more than two hours to less than 40 minutes.
