Media partnership key to UniIlorin’s growth – VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, has stressed the need for sustained collaboration between the institution and the media, describing journalists as vital partners in promoting the university’s achievements and reputation.

Egbewole made the remark on Tuesday while hosting members of the press and other stakeholders at the university’s annual Iftar held within the university’s premises.

Speaking during the event, the vice chancellor expressed gratitude to journalists for their consistent support and constructive engagement with the university, noting that their role has been instrumental in sustaining the institution’s progress.

Describing their partnership as invaluable to the institution’s development, he added that the relationship between the university and members of the press had continued to strengthen over time and also commended the journalists for always honouring the university’s invitation despite their busy schedules.

Egbewole further noted that the presence of journalists at their functions and events demonstrated commitment to the longstanding relationship between the university and the media.

The annual Iftar programme which was presided over by Prof Nasir AbdulSalam, the chief Imam of the institution, brought together principal officers of the institution, representatives of staff unions, international students and other members of the university community in an atmosphere of reflection and fellowship during the ongoing Ramadan.
