NANS lauds Makinde for approving payment of N500,000 bursary award

The National Association of Nigerian Students has praised the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, for approving the payment of N500,000 in bursary awards to final-year indigenes of the state studying Medicine, Maritime, and Aviation.
A statement signed by the NANS Vice President for Inter-Campus and Gender Affairs, Akinbodunse Felicia, on Sunday, described the governor’s action as “humane and commendable”.
Akinbodunse noted that the bursary awards would significantly boost the morale of the beneficiaries and ease the financial burden on their parents.
She said the governor’s approval came at the right time, given the challenging economic situation in the country.
The NANS leader further observed that the bursary awards, which will also be extended to final-year students in Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, will encourage more students from the state to pursue academic careers in medicine-related fields, as well as in maritime and aviation.
The governor has reportedly approved the payment of N500,000 each to final-year students of Oyo State origin studying Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Maritime, and Aviation in tertiary institutions across the country.
He has also approved a sum of N100,000 as bursary awards for final-year students studying other courses.
