NDLEA destroys drug warehouses in Ekiti, Ondo forests

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has destroyed multiple drug warehouses across forests in Ekiti and Ondo states, seizing large quantities of skunk and arresting several suspects.
The agency said its special operations unit on Sunday stormed the Omuo-Ekiti forest, where 14,654kg of skunk was destroyed and two suspects arrested.
It added that operatives on 2 December also raided Asin-Ekiti in Ikole LGA, destroying 54,300kg of skunk in two major warehouses and recovering 28.3kg for prosecution.
In a separate operation in Ondo State, NDLEA officers on 2 December combed the Igoba forest in Akure North, recovering 2,483 compressed blocks and 247 bags of skunk weighing 5,442kg, with five suspects arrested.
The agency said 500kg of the same substance was intercepted on 4 December from a Mercedes-Benz van along the Mokwa–Jebba road in Niger State, while in the FCT, a 22kg consignment of Colorado was seized on 3 December at the Abaji expressway, leading to the arrest of a female receiver at the Jabi Park.
It said another suspect in Abuja was found with 24kg of skunk and 573,500 pills of Exol-5 on the Kwali–Gwagwalada expressway, just as operatives in Lagos recovered 113kg of Canadian Loud at Ladipo Market and arrested suspects with 351kg and 104.1kg of skunk in separate raids.
In Edo State, the NDLEA recovered 447.5kg of skunk from two vehicles at the Agho forest in Akoko Edo and seized another 315.8kg during a warehouse raid in the Isiefve community, leading to arrests.
“With the same vigour, commands and formations of the agency across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation activities to schools, worship centres, workplaces and communities, among others, in the past week,” the statement said, listing sensitisation sessions held in Kano, Benue and Rivers states.
