Nigeria now in ‘golden era’ of economic stability, says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria has entered a “golden era” following the implementation of his administration’s economic reforms, saying the country’s economy has stabilised and is now positioned to reap the benefits of democracy.

Tinubu made the remarks on Thursday while receiving a delegation of political leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders from the North-East at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The delegation was led by Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.

The President credited the success of the reforms to the support of state governors, urging them to sustain efforts to ensure Nigerians understand and benefit from the government’s economic policies.

“The economy is already stabilised. To many of the governors here present, I want to say thank you very much, and I want to charge you to do more. The golden era is here now. Nigerians are not asking for too much: simple stability, social welfare,” Tinubu said.

He also called for continued collaboration in tackling terrorism and banditry, particularly in the North-East, stressing that unity among all levels of government remained critical to restoring peace and driving development in the region.

“We work together, we stick together, we think together, and we face the challenges the best way possible as a united country,” the President said.

Tinubu used the occasion to highlight his administration’s efforts to clear outstanding pension liabilities, taking a swipe at previous governments over the handling of pension obligations.

“I promise you through the twists and turns of this democracy, Nigeria will survive… I promise you we’ll do our best,” he added.
